AIEA - Overview of Overnight Summer Program 2006

                                                                                                                                                                             American International Education Associates (AIEA) offers an intensive Academic Summer Overnight Program (July 16-21 in Easthampton, MA and August 13-18 in White Mountain, NH) for grade 6-12 students with all cultural and ethnic backgrounds.  The program focuses on developing academic skills (college reading, writing, and public speaking), building organization and study skills, and prepping students with the knowledge necessary to succeed in an increasingly competitive and confusing college admissions process. Set on the beautiful campus of New England prep schools and surrounded by mountains and lakes, students also take part in afternoon team-building activities: sports, hikes, and team challenges. Our program motto is: wisdom, health, and team spirits. Oversea international students are welcome to our program. The curriculum offered by American International Education Associates is grade appropriate, and geared toward preparing students to succeed in college. The instruction offered includes:

Academic Summer Prep: Grades 6-9

This prep program prepares students to gain admission to college by providing strong academic foundation work to help students achieve strong results in high school. Students in the program will take seminars in:

  • Learn academic essay writing skills, including establishing a provocative thesis, use of evidence, and high-level literary analysis.

  • Close reading of a text, with an emphasis on interpretation.

  • Overall organization and study skills.

  • Vocabulary acquisition and standardized test preparation (PSAT).

  • The importance of course selection, curriculum, and activities on college admissions.

  • Public speaking, drama, and professional presentation skills.

 

Academic Summer Prep with Emphasis on College Admissions: Grades 10-12

This prep program curriculum helps students acquire concrete tools and knowledge to achieve the most during their high school experience, while also providing guidance for the college admissions process. The university admissions process is confusing, competitive and stressful. Students will be prepared by taking seminars in:

  • College level reading and writing: how to analyze a text, and earn strong grades in college.

  • SAT Preparation: Get ready for the exam that plays a determinative role in Admissions

  • College Admissions Plus: Instruction on Personal Statement; Activity Resume; Individual Essays; and Individual Counseling Sessions.

  • Overview of the Admissions Landscape by Admissions Expert

 

Afternoon Excursions and Activities

American International Education Associates offers fun, invigorating and challenging physical activity, team-building exercises and cultural offerings in the afternoon and evenings. Our rich offerings include:

  • Team Survivor Challenges

  • Team sports competition, including soccer and basketball

  • Extended hikes, nature walks, and mountain-climbing

  • Summer theatre and film outings

 

Program Executive Director:

Vincent G. Bradley, MA, MEd, is an expert in private admissions counseling, and a member of the Higher Education Consultants Association. Mr. Bradley has placed students in diverse schools, such as Dartmouth College, Cornell University, University of Chicago, US Naval Academy, UMass-Amherst, Boston University, Amherst College, and New York University. Personal one-on-one attention, motivation and a caring, ethical approach are the hallmarks of Mr. Bradley’s approach. Mr. Bradley has taught Global Studies, United States History, English, and Advanced Placement United States History in private high schools in New Hampshire (Bishop Guertin HS), and Boston (Catholic Memorial) for over 10 years. He is a founding teacher of the Rice Institute, an innovative summer program in Boston that provides literary, historical, and artistic experiential learning opportunities for students. Mr. Bradley's students exceed the national pass rate on the AP US History exam by over 25 points. Mr. Bradley founded AP Prep: United States History Summer Institute in Boston to better prepare students to succeed in the class and earn college credit in high school. A motivator, Mr. Bradley is a former head coach in track and field, and was honored as the Lowell Sun’s Coach of the Year in 2001. He has been named to Who’s Who Among American Teachers in 2001 and 2004.
