Successful
Overnight Academic Program in Summer 2006
(Summer, 2006)

American International Education Associates (AIEA) successfully launched its
one-week academic summer program for a select group of students at the
Williston-Northampton School and White Mountain School, respectively. The
program focused on English writing and poetry, math, public speaking and the
college admissions, environmental awareness, leadership building, and featured
trips to the six colleges (Dartmouth, Amherst, Mount Holyoke, Smith, Hampshire,
U. Mass-Amherst) as well as briefings from guest speakers and NH state house
representatives.
We wanted to expose the very best students we
admitted to high level English and public speaking, as well as arrange special
visits and briefings to the very best colleges in the region, said Executive
Director Vincent G. Bradley of AIEA, the Andover-based admissions consultancy.
The students had access to the finest educational facilities, as well as plant
a seed and let them know about future opportunities, and what it would take to
achieve them.
Noted poet Lisa Olstein, director of the
Juniper Writing Initiative at University of Massachusetts-Amherst, led a writing
workshop. Lisa Beskin, a poet and former Yale University professor, entertained
students with a reading of her poems. Sarah Piontkowski, admissions officer at
Mount Holyoke College, delivered a talk that explained in detail the admissions
process for highly selective schools, and offered tips for students on
activities, courses, and grades.
The teachers and speakers were very good, the
students all got along well. The educational, athletic, and dining facilities at
the Schools were awesome, said would-be 9th grader Conan Huang of
Andover, who has attended both sessions.
AIEA serves a diverse client base of students
and families in the Boston region, and continues to serve families worldwide,
including the Republic of Korea, Saudi Arab, and China. The success of our
summer program is the true reflection of our program motto: wisdom, health and
team spirit!
