AIEA Launches Admissions Prep Program
(April 24, 2006) – American
International Education Associates (AIEA), the Andover-based college consulting
firm, will launch an academic summer program in order to help students in grades
6-12 “prep” for success in high school and college. AIEA will offer two
sessions this summer in Northampton, MA (July 16-21) and Bethlehem, NH (Aug
13-18), that will focus on study skills, critical reading and writing, test
preparation (PSAT and SAT), and college advisement and admissions preparation.

The program will offer excellent
accommodations, tours of college campuses, lectures from admission officials,
and one-on-one college counseling sessions. An eclectic mix of academic
activities will include poetry readings, film, public speaking, writing, and
dramatic workshops. Instructors and guest speakers (authors, college counselors,
and admissions officials) will help younger students (Grades 6-9) focus on what
it will take to be successful in high school. Older students will work on a
detailed program of study and activity in order to focus on the importance of:
activities, resume, athletics, personal statement, and identifying college of
interest.
“This program will help students grasp the
importance of their high school education, and the opportunities that are
available if they possess a little bit of vision, organization and focus,” said
Vincent G. Bradley, the executive director of American International Education
Associates. “We want students to grasp their potential, and then take concrete
steps toward achieving their goals.”
The
program will also offer fun activities, like
hikes, mountain-climbing, swimming, and excursions to mountain gondola rides,
amusement parks, beaches, plays and team sports activities to build comraderie
and confidence.
“We distinguish ourselves in that we open up students’ minds to possibilities in
the future, give kids the concrete tools to succeed and get them excited about
learning with great lectures and demonstrations,” said Mr. Bradley.
